Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and Saint Lucians, as has been customary over the years joins the global village in celebrating this day set aside for lovers and those in love. This year will be exceptionally different for Heineken lovers and fans of the world renowned beer. Heineken is doing things differently for the love of their fans by using social media, particularly Facebook and YouTube to connect their fans this Valentine. And, thanks to the Heineken’s Facebook page, Saint Lucians can also join the global village to participate in and experience “The Serenade.”

“What is the Serenade?” you ask. Well, if you want to share in something creative and unique this Valentine, and whether you have the vocal chords or not, if you’ve ever felt like serenading your Valentine with a song that says everything you want to say then “The Serenade” is for you.

“The Serenade” is Heineken’s latest interactive video in the ongoing ‘Open Your World’ campaign which started with the video ad campaign “The Date,” offers a new app that enables Heineken consumers to send humorous personalized songs to potential partners, inviting them on a real date.

To join in on the fun all one has to do is visit www.facebook.com/Heineken to see the video which accompanies the Valentine’s Day Facebook App, which was launched on February 1st 2012. Clicking through to the App from this video allows you to create your very own fully personalized “Serenade” for your date in just four clicks.

 

First, select “Who” you would like to take on a date, “Why” you want to go out with them, and then decide “What” you want to do on your legendary date, and explain why your chosen date should step out with you – “Why Me”. Once you have made your choices, your “Serenade” will be ready to send to your lucky date.

Then just keep a lookout to see if you receive a YES or NO from your chosen recipient. Oh by the way both the sender and recipient will have to allow the Facebook app to send or open their “Serenade.” All the Serenades – on the app and at Serenade Live – will be performed by Paul “Kiss” Kissaun, the same artists and band featured in “The Date” campaign.

According to Gaius Harry Heineken Brand Manager, Saint Lucia, this Thursday 9 February, 2012 HEINEKEN will host “Serenade Live”, an 8-hour YouTube event, during which individuals around the world will get the chance to serenade the object of their heart’s desire live online, which will hopefully lead to a host of many successful dates. “This Thursday, Saint Lucians can begin viewing online from 1 PM to 10 PM, this global event which will be streamed on Heineken’s YouTube channel. Full of live content, it’s shaping up to be a great campaign that will see the world making connections everywhere,” Harry says.

“The Serenade” is an extension of our brand’s “Open Your World” global campaign which seeks not only to maintain Heineken as a premium and world renowned brand but to continue to interact with our fans and consumers in more fun and engaging ways as we seek to encourage our adult consumers to aspire,” Harry pronounced. “The Serenade” is just another fun filled and positive example of how we are doing this.” he added.
